If you have bought some land, are thinking of buying some land, and considering taking the farming or homesteading leap, then this is for you! The purpose of this Consultation is to have you to be successful! It's easier and cheaper to make your mistakes on paper.
- Beginning with a questionnaire exploring your personal, farm, and financial goals. Where you are now, and a skill inventory. This is done before visiting the farm and is brought to the farm consultation.
- Next, is a full farm tour from bank barn to business. Bring a notebook full of questions, and we will walk the farm. Different gear will be looked at in the barn, milkhouse, and kitchen. A sheep will be brought out and "milked".
- The how, what, when, and why, will be answered on each part of the farm. Yes, we will also talk about laws, regulations, income, cash-flow, sales avenues, and wages - honestly. The good, bad, ugly, and gross.
- An exit questionarre will be taken home to help absorb the day's experience and translate it to your own farm.
Farming uses all our senses. Seeing a working dairy is helpful for making decisions about your own direction to take your dairy. Equipment, supplies, set up, logistics and process are all looked at.
A full farm tour runs for up to 4 hours (the average being 3 hours). Filming isn't permitted please, but notebooks and still photos are welcome.
A follow up-zoom meeting will then be arranged to assist creating a plan to move forward.
Date for each individual will be determined once booked.
