The new layers are finally laying! Our Rhode Island reds are in almost in full swing. Rhode Island Reds are a heritage hen that originated in 19th century Massachusetts. An ideal farmstead hen, it's hardy, friendly and very good at foraging. One characteristic our hens have is, although they have some very nice roosts, the, they really like to roost in the rafters of the duck house.
DONATE A DOZEN TO THE COMMUNITY -
You can donate a dozen eggs to a food bank/community fridge for a reduced cost. Few food banks will accept farm eggs. We have found a couple that will as well as some community fridges. Whenever we have donated in the past, the eggs have been well received. Those who wouldn't normally have pastured eggs, will get a chance to have some.
